Alexanderstrasse 141

The existing building at Alexanderstrasse 141 was built in 1921 and extended in 1926. Based on designs by the architectural firm Sindlinger + Vogt from Stuttgart, the building has been undergoing core renovation since the beginning of 2020. Completion is planned for Q1 2021.

The aim of the core renovation was to perfectly integrate the building into the existing streetscape and to create new living space. To this end, the façade was fitted with bay windows that are common in the street. This guarantees future residents an extraordinary view along Alexanderstrasse. In addition, a full storey was added to the property to continue the sloping street level.

One of the special features is a former coal cellar with a vault on the ground floor. COPRO decided to preserve the vault and elaborately develop the space as a bathroom. For this purpose, the walls were sealed towards the outside and the vault stones were sandblasted. The joint material between the sandblasted vault stones was then removed and repointed to create the classic masonry look. The rain shower, which is located in the area of the old coal chute, also sets a special accent.

An attractive location in Stuttgart

The building was renovated according to the KFW Efficiency House 85 standard. Thermal insulation was added to the façade and it was completely re-plastered and repainted. Inside, all pipes and walls were removed, the load-bearing elements were gutted, and the roof was removed up to the 2nd floor. Afterwards, the walls and pipes were constructed according to the new, well thought-out floor plans and the interior work was continued. Many of the flats have open spaces in the form of a balcony or terrace as well as a patio.

Alexanderstrasse 141 is within walking distance of the city centre. The city centre and airport are just as easy to reach by car or public transport as the long-distance bus station or the motorway access roads to Munich, Karlsruhe or Heilbronn.
