COPRO wins Red Dot Award 2019

Berlin, 5th November 2019 – EDITION25 presents COPRO’s projects and successes since its foundation in 1993. The book project was initiated by the management team, who also played a key role in shaping its content. The holistic concept was developed by the COPRO team and specialists from the fields of art, architecture and culture. The design, which was created in collaboration with Berlin-based agency Cee Cee Creative, won over the international jury of experts: The project was recognised with a Red Dot Award – the distinguished quality seal that marks excellence in design and creativity – in 2019’s Brands and Communication Design category. The publication had already won an award for Corporate Publishing by the German Art Directors Club (ADC Award) back in June 2019.

Marc F. Kimmich, CEO and founder of COPRO, explains: “The awards won by our anniversary publication are testament to the important role the interweaving of architecture, art, and culture has played at COPRO for more than 25 years. With EDITION25 we were able to present these aspects not only side by side, but in dialogue. We are proud that our dedication and bold ideas over the past 25 years, compiled in a single book, have now been awarded such a highly regarded international prize. My personal thanks go to everyone who contributed to this incredible project!”

A book to bridge past and future

COPRO’s anniversary book invites readers to reflect on the past, while also looking to the future together. It offers fascinating insights through interviews with experts, staff, and family members, along with carefully selected images of extraordinary real estate projects in Stuttgart and Berlin in their artistic and architectural context. At the end of the book COPRO introduces its forward-looking project in central Berlin: Urbane Mitte Am Gleisdreieck. The project’s DNA can already be sensed through the presence of B-Part Am Gleisdreieck – an experimental laboratory to develop the urban quarters of tomorrow – temporarily housed on the site prior to development.

The anniversary book, encased in silver linen, comprises 288 pages and is square in shape measuring 25 x 25 cm – a tribute to the anniversary itself and the similarly square shape of the COPRO logo. The embossed title gives the publication a particularly high-quality feel. Each year of the company’s activities – from 1993 to 2018 – is printed in neon orange on the cover. The bright colour emphasises that each year was important to COPRO’s development as a company. Only a limited number of copies were published.

Neon orange also provides visual signposting within the book, while also representing the company’s warmth, courage and dynamism, as well as its unrelenting commitment to the arts, society and urban spaces. The corporate colour of metallic blue offers contrast, while also symbolising the tradition and authenticity of historic buildings. In the book’s preface, the two colours come together in the maps of Stuttgart and Berlin, the company’s two centres of activity.

The design is complemented by a neon-orange bookmark with an integrated timeline, assisting readers as they peruse EDITION25. It shows all the years in chronological order, guiding readers through the projects as if embarking on a journey through time.
