COPRO Projektentwicklung GmbH wins European Property Award 2020

COPRO Projektentwicklung GmbH wins the European Property Award 2020 in the category "Residential Renovation / Redevelopment - Germany" with GEISBERG Berlin. The team of COPRO Projektentwicklung GmbH managed a very complex B-plan procedure with strict requirements for the historic preservation. The result is the complete transformation of the 95-year-old, listed, commercial post & telegraph office into a timeless community residential project with the highest DGNB requirements.More than 80 experts from the entire spectrum of the real estate industry selected the award winners in almost 50 categories, evaluating the innovation, sustainability, safety concept, planning and marketing of the submitted projects. The independent jury was convinced by the holistic design concept for the old post office building, which has now become a new home in the centre of the capital as "GEISBERG Berlin".

The 1925-built post office building has been carefully restored and modernised, and additional wing buildings and superstructures added, converting it into a residential complex. Seven years into the project, a complex of urban spatial quality has emerged by combining new and historical, monument-listed building elements. This has created a building where architectural value and sustainable construction merge with a new living concept focused on a vibrant and inspiring residential community.

Based on the designs by the Berlin-based architectural practice O&O Baukunst, the GEISBERG Berlin is a community living project that stands out for its diversity and blends harmoniously into its surrounding. Respect for the monument-listing has shaped the design of the GEISBERG Berlin. Attention was focused on absolute quality down to the last detail. This is a well-conceived selection of residential units for the young and old, with apartment sizes of 45 sqm to almost 320 sqm, a variety of apartment types from studios to lofts, and styles ranging from classic to theunexpected.

The landscaping concept with eco-friendly courtyard gardens has transformed around 1 ha of previously hard-surfaced urban landscape into green space, improving residents’ quality of life and offering diverse open space.
